Mayor Announces $50M Infrastructure Investment Plan

The city's mayor unveiled an ambitious $50 million infrastructure improvement plan at yesterday's city council meeting. The comprehensive initiative will address aging roads, deteriorating bridges, and expand public transit options across all districts.
"This is the largest infrastructure investment our city has seen in a generation," said Mayor Jennifer Chen. "We're committed to building a modern, efficient transportation network that serves all our residents."
The plan includes repaving over 200 miles of city streets, repairing 15 major bridges, and adding three new bus routes to underserved neighborhoods. Construction is expected to begin next spring and continue through 2029.
Community leaders have welcomed the announcement, though some have raised concerns about potential traffic disruptions during construction. The city has promised to maintain regular communication with residents about project timelines and alternate routes.
