Lincoln High Takes State Championship in Thrilling Overtime Win

Lincoln High School's basketball team secured their first state championship in 15 years with a heart-stopping 78-75 overtime victory against Jefferson High on Saturday night. Senior guard Marcus Williams scored the winning three-pointer with just 8 seconds remaining.
The championship game, played before a sold-out crowd of 8,000 at the State Arena, lived up to its billing as a classic. Lincoln led by 12 points in the third quarter before Jefferson mounted a furious comeback to force overtime.
"These kids never gave up," said head coach David Thompson, fighting back tears. "They believed in each other and played with incredible heart. This is a moment they'll remember forever."
Williams finished with 28 points, while forward Sarah Chen added 22 points and 15 rebounds. The victory caps an impressive 28-3 season for the Lions, who have now qualified for the state tournament five consecutive years.
